Prof. Dr. Khazar Huseynov
Biography
Prof. Dr. Khazar Allahverdi oglu Huseynov was born on 10 August 1973 in the village of Yukhary Uzunoba, Babak District, Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. He graduated with honours from the Faculty of History and Philology at Nakhchivan State University in 1995, majoring in History with an additional qualification in Law. He served in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan from 1995 to 1997.
He began his academic career at NSU in 1997, serving as Head of the Azerbaijan History Study Room (1997-2001), then as Lecturer from 2001 and Senior Lecturer from 2007. In 2006 he defended his candidate dissertation on 'The Development of Industry in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (1950-2004)'; the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) was officially conferred in 2008. He was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor in 2012.
He served as Associate Professor in the Department of History of Azerbaijan at NSU from 2011 to 2021, and also held the position of Associate Professor at the Nakhchivan Teachers Institute for a period. On 25 November 2017 he defended his doctoral dissertation on 'The History of Agricultural Development in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (1924-2012)', supervised by Academician Ismayil Mukhtar oglu Hajiyev. The degree of Doctor of Historical Sciences was officially confirmed by AAK on 18 May 2018.
He has served as Professor since 2021 and was appointed Head of the 'History of Azerbaijan' Department on 27 March 2023. On 20 December 2024, AAK awarded him the academic title of Professor. Specialty code: 5503.02 National History.
Throughout his career he has published more than 101 scholarly articles, 4 textbooks, 2 monographs, 1 methodological manual, and 2 course syllabi. He has also published in leading Turkish academic journals.
